Supported by K&M, the government of Malawi hosted two webinars on the Mpatamanga hydropower project. The webinars answered questions on the project’s financing structure, bidding process, technical specifications, and more. Recordings of both webinars and answers to additional questions are available on the project website. Prospective bidders may request the RFP, which will be released this week, from the project website.
K&M, the project’s tender agent, is supporting the government of Malawi manage the tender process to identify a strategic sponsor. The selected strategic sponsor will be responsible for development, financing, construction, and operation and maintenance. The project will be developed with the Malawi government as a public private partnership. A national priority, it will alleviate Malawi’s power shortages and spur economic growth.
Mr. Derek Martin, managing director of Transaction Services and director of the Mpatamanga project, is leading K&M’s contributions. He is supported by Mr. Lenny Golbin, managing director of Technical Services, and Anneliese Gegenheimer, a senior analyst. K&M was engaged by the government of Malawi in November of last year.
